Penthouses

The standard definition of a penthouse is a top-floor luxury unit of an apartment block. However, around the world the term “penthouses” is often misused with some companies referring to their apartments that are not on the top floor as penthouses.

A penthouse using the term correctly would mean the top floor of an apartment block, usually the 9^th or 10^th floor. It would normally be more spacious than any of the apartments below, be more luxurious, have better views and may have a roof terrace. This of course all comes with a higher price tag.

One advantage of any top floor apartment is that there is less noise, of course this is because there are no apartments above. Also, you will have no damp, something that ground floor apartments can suffer from if poorly constructed.

Construction companies now often call any top floor apartment, even when the building is only 2 stories high, a penthouse. Although of course not penthouses in the strictest sense of the word they still offer some of  the advantages of a penthouse.

So, if you have a reasonable budget then the choice would be between a penthouse or a villa, probably with private swimming pool.

Mainly because you will be able to take care of the upkeep, and villas with a garden and swimming pool really do require significant upkeep. You will be able to walk through your front door when visiting North Cyprus in the safe knowledge that your fully equipped penthouse is ready to go from day one.
